About Artist

Cláudio Colavolpe

Cláudio Colavolpe: The Art of Portraying Cultures and Stirring Emotions Through Documentary Photography Cláudio Colavolpe, a documentary photographer with a 28-year career, has emerged as one of Brazil’s leading names in documentary photography. Born in Salvador, Bahia, Colavolpe combines an artistic eye with technical expertise, delivering acclaimed work exhibited in various shows while managing a unique atelier in Brazil’s Northeast, certified internationally by Hahnemühle. With a degree in business administration and a specialization in marketing, Cláudio merges entrepreneurial vision with his passion for photography. From an early age, he was captivated by the depth of portraits and the power of images to capture stories, emotions, and cultures. As an entrepreneur, he leads Cláudio Colavolpe Photo Art, the only Hahnemühle-certified fine art printing studio in Northern and Northeastern Brazil, ensuring excellence in fine art printing and authenticity in every piece. The Hahnemühle certification is a mark of quality that attracts collectors, curators, and galleries seeking works of high durability and aesthetic value. Colavolpe is a tireless traveler, exploring Brazil and the world through photographic expeditions that have taken him to places like the Pantanal, the Upper Xingu, and the Pataxó tribe, as well as documenting cultural events in the Recôncavo region of Bahia. Abroad, he has led photography groups to India, Morocco, Australia, New York, and New Zealand, sharing his knowledge and unique perspective. These experiences have sharpened his vision—especially for portraiture, where each image unveils a story and the essence of its subject. In parallel with his photographic work, Cláudio spent 10 years teaching as a university professor, offering courses in photography across advertising, journalism, fashion, graphic design, and audiovisual programs. This teaching background enhanced his ability to share knowledge, inspire emerging photographers, and build a strong professional network. Currently, Cláudio Colavolpe is preparing to release his first photography book, Alma Indiana ("Indian Soul"). The work is the result of several journeys through India, aiming to reveal the country’s cultural layers and deep spirituality through his lens. With images that capture everyday life and Indian mysticism, Alma Indiana represents a fusion of technique and soul—hallmarks of Colavolpe’s artistic identity. With a portfolio exhibited in prestigious venues such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Rodin Museum in Salvador, Colavolpe continues to expand his artistic vision. His atelier offers not only exceptional quality prints but also a personalized service for collectors and photography enthusiasts. Cláudio Colavolpe is a benchmark in Brazilian photography—uniting cultural immersion with technical mastery, always seeking to transmit the soul of his subjects in every image.
