About Artist
Émilie Delugeau
Émilie Delugeau was born in Parthenay, France in 1979 and trained in classical ballet at the Niort Regional Conservatory. Her preoccupations were initially linked to dance, literature and the stage. A decisive encounter in 2000 on the campus of Toulouse Le Mirail directed her towards photography and its narrative possibilities. It was in this circumstance that she exhibited her work for the first time, as part of the photographic summer of Lectoure. After a stay at the University of California at Berkeley (a scholarship awarded by the California House), then a Master's degree in 2005 from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d'Arles, she moved to Berlin where she deepened the link between image and stage, notably through her friendship with the members of the rock band Bonaparte. She also graduated in 2015 from the Ostkreuzschule Berlin (Post-Diploma under Ute Mahler and Robert Lyons). In her work, she stages the spaces and people of her everyday life in pictorial short stories.
