An avid scuba diver, Dawn began her foray into photography by honing her underwater photography skills on dive trips all over the world. Her interactions with the unique creatures of the deep, and seeing the negative changes in their environments over just a few years, led to her strong support for conservation and advocacy and a desire to share the amazing beauty of the ocean and its varied inhabitants. Her innate sense of adventure, which has led not only to her dive trips near and far, but also to a trek through Egypt and Safaris in South Africa and Tanzania, informs her work, and she is passionate about sharing her experiences and calling attention to the fierce fleeting beauty of our planet.
A native New Englander, Dawn's love of the ocean brought her to the Massachusetts North Shore, where her coastal surroundings further inspire her photography, above and below the waterline. Exploring the interplay of light and shadow, she is especially drawn to stormy skies, and crashing waves, focusing on composition while capturing the impact of nature and its elements. Shining a spotlight on the underwater flora and fauna of Cape Ann and beyond has won her several photography awards in just a few short years.
Dawn is a juried artist member of the Rockport Art Association, and an artist member of both the Newburyport Art Association, the Plymouth Center for the Arts and the Griffin Museum of Photography.
