About Artist

Rubén Avendaño

Rubén Avendaño is a Los Angeles–based photographer whose work explores memory, presence, and the emotional resonance of everyday spaces. His photographs often focus on moments that appear quiet at first glance but reveal deeper layers of human experience through light, gesture, and atmosphere. Avendaño’s work has been exhibited internationally, including exhibitions in Paris, Venice, and Los Angeles, as well as at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Massachusetts. His photographs have received recognition from the International Photography Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards, and the Black and White International Photo Awards. Alongside his fine art practice, Avendaño has worked as a cinematographer in television for over twenty-five years, developing a deep sensitivity to timing, body language, and the subtle moments that unfold in front of the camera. This experience informs his photographic work, where observation and patience play a central role.
