About Artist
Mirko Sperlonga
Mirko Sperlonga (Terracina, 1995) is a multidisciplinary visual artist, rooted in photography yet open to other artistic and literary forms of expression. His research weaves together image and word to explore the bond between body, nature, and memory. A restless autodidact, he cultivates an ecological and antispeciesist sensitivity that subtly permeates his practice, suspended between documentary, editorial, and poetry—an act of resistance and a possibility of transformation. Not tied to a single place, he lives in constant movement, following listening and research, traversing spaces and encounters that nourish his vision. He earned a Master’s in Lighting Design, a Master’s in Advanced Digital Photography, and a Diploma in Fashion Photography at ISFCI (Rome, 2023), after having independently deepened his studies in psychology and the humanities. These paths allowed him to merge technical skills with human sensitivity, paving the way for a practice that subverts the medium through introspection and experimentation. His work engages with the relationship between psychoanalysis and image, the role of shadow and the unconscious in representation, the connections between body, anthropological roots, and landscape, as well as a critique of power structures and systemic violence—extending to deep ecology and antispeciesism as tools for political and spiritual revolution.
