Arkadiusz “Arek” Gepchard is a Polish fine art photographer whose work combines surrealism, humor, and reflection on everyday life and human nature. Active in art photography since 1999, he works primarily with digital techniques, often using theatrical makeup and self-made props created from found objects. Improvisation and experimentation are as vital to his process as composition and light.
Gepchard draws inspiration from the world around him — people, spaces, and objects that in his photographs acquire new meanings, balancing between truth and imagination. His goal is to evoke emotion — from a smile to a moment of deep reflection.
He has held over ten solo exhibitions and participated in numerous international shows in Paris, London, New York, Barcelona, Zurich, Stockholm, and Los Angeles, earning multiple awards and honorable mentions, including ArtExpo New York, Monovisions Black & White Photography Awards, Circle Foundation for the Arts, and the International Photography Awards.
His works are part of private collections and the Bibliothèque nationale de France François-Mitterrand in Paris. Gepchard’s photography has been featured in Visual Art Journal, ArtistCloseUp Contemporary Art Magazine, Stockholm Designer Magazine, AATONAU Art Blog, and Best Contemporary Visual Artist Worldwide Guide & Catalog vol.2 (Sweden, ISBN 9798300763169).
He also contributes to charitable causes, donating his photographs to support cultural and social initiatives. Currently based in France, he continues to explore the intersection of realism and imagination through emotionally charged imagery.
