About Artist
Lela Edgar
I’m a photographer and activist based in Los Angeles, with roots in both L.A. and New York. My work centers on advocacy—amplifying the voices of people whose stories too often go unseen. Over the years, I’ve documented acid attack survivors in India, unhoused communities in Los Angeles, AIDS orphans in Kenya, and Syrian refugees in Jordan. My intention is always the same: to bear witness, and to contribute. My images have been published in Bustle, Vogue Arabia, Huffington Post, and Global Citizen, where I was named Citizen of the Month for my photographic essays of acid attack survivors. Whether through a lens or a conversation, my aim is to create space for people to be seen.
