About Artist

Gm Sacco

Giovanni Maria Sacco (born in Rome, Italy, 1954) was a university professor of computer science for 30 years, until he resigned to pursue his passion for photography. He has been a photographer since he was eight, but has taken it more seriously and competently since the 1970s. His motto is Walt Whitman’s: "I am large. I contain multitudes.” And, in fact, his photographs span many different themes: modern ruins (large factories, mainly), architecture, still lifes, portraits, nudes—but the list is long. Not surprisingly given his background, he strives for mathematical elegance: everything exactly as needed, nothing more, nothing less. The composition of his images is deeply influenced by his interest in painting, from Duccio to contemporary painters. Since 2015, he has received more than seventy awards in the most important international contests such as International Photo Awards (IPA), Fine Art Photography Awards, Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), MonoVisions, ND, Siena Creative, among others. His works have been exhibited in Turin, Milan, Rome, Trieste, Venice, Glasgow, New York, Miami, Tokyo and Zurich. He uses digital cameras and film cameras from 6x6 to 20x25cm. www.gmsacco.com Awards: International Photography Awards: 2015, 2016 (3), 2018 (2), 2019 (3), 2020 (3), 2021 (3), 2022 (2) Moscow International Foto Awards: 2016, 2017, 2020 (2) Tokyo International Foto Awards: 2017, 2018, 2022 (3) P×3 Prix de la Photographie Paris: 2017, 2020 (2), 2021 (3), 2022 (3) Fine Art Photography Awards: 2017, 2018 (2), 2019, 2020, 2021(2) ND Awards: 2016, 2018, 2020 (2), 2021 (2), 2022 (1) Monochrome Awards: 2017, 2018 (2), 2019 (2), 2020, 2022 (2) MonoVisions Awards: 2020, 2022 (3), 2023(2) Architecture MasterPrize (AMP): 2021, 2022 (2 + Best of Best) Siena Creative Photo Awards, 2021, 2022 URBAN Photo Awards: 2021 (finalist)
