John K Henderson is a self-taught photographer who originally started in the 70's and 80's using film mostly black and white but some color slides. Fast forward to now when I've rediscovered photography using digital cameras to capture all kinds of images from street to architecture and landscapes. These images are from everyday life in the Philadelphia area to my travels in the United States and Europe. Also, I've been able to revive my black and white photos from the 70's and 80's and bring them back to life. Photography is a passion of mine that I am working on for some time. It all began some 50 years ago when I purchased my first 35mm film SLR camera a Canon FDb. Eventually I built my own darkroom and began processing black & white photos occasionally dabbling in color slides. For the next 25 years I tried to perfect my craft through taking and analyzing photos, increasing my knowledge from books and photography classes. As raising a family and trying to make a living was paramount photography took a back seat over the next 25 years. But I always tried to be as creative as possible towards everything I endeavored. Since 2017 I returned to fully focusing on photography and embracing the digital technology that has become part of today’s photography. I use photography as an expression of how I see the world around me. My choices of subjects tend to be intuitive so my photographs are diverse and unique to my beliefs and appreciation of life. My goal is to make photographs that not only draw viewers in but allow for their own interpretation based on their life experiences. After working several decades early in my photographic career using analog (film) photographic techniques which were mostly in black & white, I recently discovered digital photography which opened a whole different way of seeing and working. Being able to combine these photographic techniques into my approach along with years of life experiences has expanded my ability to create unique and diverse images.
