Lone Home

Lone Home decontextualises the familiar surrounding being photographed, compressing many moments into a single frame. It balances the representation of reality and the so-called realities we choose to notice. Scenes that may be familiar, and at the same time utterly foreign.

About Artist

Chris Bekos

I am a fine art photographer, living and working in Melbourne. My images predominantly distort the world we take for granted. It makes the photographic act part of the larger way of seeing and constructing meaning. Photography, for me, goes beyond the surface appearance or recording an archival fact. It’s an expression of my creative thoughts revealed with a camera instead of painting on a canvas. A new story unfolds like looking through a window expecting to see a familiar scene. I want to take viewers outside the scene they are familiar with, to explore something new. My photography is an artistic representation of reality, not reality itself.
