Born in 1974 in the western Pyrenees, I feel lucky to still live there, after a period of 10 years in the French Alps. My passion for mountainous places led me to become a professional geologist, and a professional mountain guide, and also to choose my present profile as a photographer. In any case, this occupation has been developped around two other passions which are very important in my life : nature and travel.
With professional training as a geologist ( geotechnical engineer), and a passion for photography, I started my career in the Alps in 1998. Since that date, always carrying my photography equipment, I have spent considerable time discovering our planet, and particularly the mountainous regions :
The Himalayas : Nepal, India (Ladakh), Tadjikistan, Ouzbekistan
The Andes : Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador
The Rocky Mountains : Canada, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah
The Pyrenees and the Alps : France , Spain, Italy
I have also explored less mountainous regions, but which offered equally remarkable scenery, flora, and fauna.
Africa : Namibia, Mauritania
North America : Alaska, Arizona, California
South America : Brazil, Amazonia (Ecuador, Peru, Brazil)
Central America : Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica
Iceland
Today, the majority of the great nature photographers, are specialized (scenery, animals or macrophotography). This is generally in order to be more competent in their specific domain, and thus gaining recognition. Personally, I haven’t wished to follow this path because my absolute priority, even in transforming my passion for photography into a profession, was to enjoy this activity. So, considering the passions I have had since childhood, I could not resign myself to a restriction of doing only photos of scenery, even if that is the domain in which I have the most experience.
Management of photography workshops and trips.
Except for the sale of fine art photos, my main activity is the management of workshops, photography trips which I manage and accompany at the following destinations :
. Namibia
. Patagonia (Argentina, Chile)
. Atacama Desert and Altiplano (Chile, Bolivia)
. Iceland
. Pyrenees (France and Spain)
. U.S.A. (scenery of the southwest and North West)
. Canada (scenery in the Rocky Mountains)
. Ecuador (Galapagos, Amazonia, Andes…)
. Colombia
. Brazil (Pantanal, Mata atlántica, Amazonia)
. Costa Rica
During these workshop tours and trips, which I manage, the naturalist approach is very important to me. I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and comprehension of the environment (geology, meteorology, fauna and flora). In fact, aside from the pleasure that one can experience in understanding our surroundings, this also allows one to anticipate situations which are favorable to photography of animals as well as scenery.
