About Artist
Sandy Adams
As a proud Washingtonian and with a BFA in photojournalism from Rochester Institute of Technology, I have a profound enthusiasm for capturing the beauty of the world through my lens. After a brief hiatus from photography, I fell in love with the craft all over again and honed my skills to bring my unique vision to life. Although I've always longed to be able to draw and depict what I see, it’s not a skill that comes naturally to me. Instead, I rely on my camera as the means of artistic expression to convey my perspective of the world. With 30 years of experience in public service, my photography serves as my escape from the rigors of everyday life. Whether it's the tranquility of nature or the geometric lines of man-made structures, I find peace and solace in creating art that reflects my personal sense of calm. Thus my collection encompasses a range of styles, from urban man-made to natural wonders, each evoking a unique atmosphere and emotion. Unlike most photographers who pre-visualize their images before setting out to create them, I possess the unique ability to see the world through images. When I encounter something visually captivating, it immediately materializes as an image in my mind. This distinctive perspective allows me to find creative potential in any outdoor setting, no matter how seemingly mundane. While it's effortless to produce stunning images in picturesque locations, I thrive on the challenge of finding beauty and interest in overlooked or ordinary subjects and places. My approach to my work embodies Walter Hagen's famous quote, "Don't hurry, don't worry, and be sure to smell the flowers along the way." This means taking the time to appreciate everything that surrounds me, not just the flowers.
