About Artist

Gary Ricketts

Photography not of what is seen, but what remains. Gary Ricketts developed a photographic language rooted in shadow, stillness, and emotional restraint. Using black and white as psychological structure rather than stylistic effect, his work moves beyond traditional monochrome photography centered on nostalgia or visual reduction. His images create spaces where memory feels unsettled and time appears suspended. The photographs resist full resolution, asking viewers to move slowly through ambiguity, presence, and disappearance, discovering meaning in what remains partially unseen.

His photographs have received honors from the New York Center for Photographic Art and the Monochrome Photography Awards, and have been exhibited at venues including Praxis Photo Arts Center. His portfolio received a Merit Award in Black & White Magazine’s 2026 Portfolio Contest, with selected images published in the August issue. His writing on photography has been published in FRAMES Magazine.

A three-time Emmy® Award recipient for his work in network television, he now devotes his time to photography.
