My name is Dave Sanches, a Fairbanks AK based photographer from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. My artistic journey began with the simplicity of my childhood captured through the lens of a Polaroid camera wielded by my oldest brother. Those moments, frozen in time, still reside in a box in my basement, creating memories of carefree days. My work revolves around the beauty found in the ordinary, the often-overlooked aspects of our surroundings. Whether it's the subtle elegance of a wine glass or slatted window blinds casting interesting and distorted shadows from a rising sun, I seek to capture the emotional resonance within these seemingly mundane subjects. I enjoy the challenge of finding unique angles and stunning shadows while utilizing contrasting elements to infuse my photographs with a gritty, thought-provoking quality. While my artistic adventures often lack a predetermined theme, they unfold organically based on what resonates with me at that moment.
