Born in London Brian nagged his parents to buy his first camera when he was eleven … price two shillings and sixpence. His first published and paid photographs were made at UK football matches (the round ball World game) when he was a mid teen. Since that time several decades ago Brian has freelanced for Australian, UK and International news media, magazines and wires. His photographs of major news stories have graced many of the World’s leading titles. Last years win in the Nikon Walkley Portrait Prize with his work “The Yarrick family of Kunhanhaa” was his third in the last ten years. Brian was also selected as one of three finalists in Australia's 2013 ‘Nikon Walkley Press Photographer of the Year’ award and has been a Walkley category finalist on several further occasions. Brian’s work encompasses documentary, photojournalism and portraiture and has evolved over time. His work is regularly exhibited around the planet and in 2020 three of his ‘Portrait of Humanity’ images were sent above the planet and exhibited ‘in space’.
