Chiaroscuro

“Chiaroscuro” is a meditation on the nature of cycles. The cycle of the sun through the windows of my home studio and the objects I choose explore the qualities of light and the ephemeral nature of living things in their passage from freshness to fading, remnants and regeneration.

About Artist

Andrea Zinn

Andrea Zinn is a Brooklyn-based photographer who captures the beauty of natural cycles through her lens. Working from a home studio, her still life photographs showcase light and shadow, memories, and fleeting moments. Initially drawing inspiration from 17th century Dutch paintings, Ms. Zinn’s careful consideration of natural light animates the essence of traditional still life. Her photographs have been shown in online exhibits and galleries around the country. A selection of photographs from the first year and a half of the Still Life project were assembled in her book “Chiaroscuro – Studies in Light and Shadow”, available through Blurb.com.
