About Artist
Jaap Jelsma
I am a self-taught photographer and photobook designer. I am taking pictures since I could afford a camera. During my college years I learned darkroom techniques in order to process my own black and white films and prints. Within family circles I acquired a certain fame as a photographer portraying the children being born around me. In the eighties I switched to color, first on slides, later on film. From 2000 onwards I started experimenting with digital photography using a compact camera. Soon after, I bought a digital SLR and started practicing photography more seriously. By doing so, I have built me a second life as a photographer with a modest business.
