A Vase of Time

Three dandelions rest in a glass vase, each at a different stage of becoming. Fragile yet luminous, they hold the quiet passage of time—tender, peaceful, and enduring. What fades does not vanish, but lingers as a timeless grace.

About Artist

Julie Wang

Julie Wang is a Seattle-based fine art photographer whose work weaves together nature, memory, and quiet introspection. Born in China and having lived across Europe and the United States, she brings a cross-cultural sensibility shaped by movement and transformation. Trained in medicine but drawn to art, literature, and philosophy, Wang eventually found in photography the most natural way to give form to her inner world. Working closely with flowers and other delicate forms, she creates images that function like visual poems—meditative, atmospheric, and deeply personal. Her practice is grounded in Eastern philosophy, especially Taoist and Buddhist ideas of impermanence, cyclical time, and the spaciousness of negative space. Wang often works in long-term series, letting each theme unfold naturally over seasons and years. Across her practice, she embraces the idea of “speaking in an ancient language with her own accent.” Her photographs merge realism and abstraction through subtle movement, layering, and painterly tones, inviting viewers into a space of reflection and quiet wonder. She continues to expand her projects while working toward her first photobook and deepening her exploration of nature’s poetic language.
