Bio

How do you meet people in a large metropolitan area so you can share your love of photography? I decided to start a meetup group and then researched events in and around Toronto and crossed my fingers and hoped that people would sign up to come along with me - and they did - close to 600 photographers but not all at once! I ran the group for about three years and then decided to work more on my own photography and started attending photo workshops in earnest. I looked up a list of the ten top equine photographers in the world and started my way down the list - lol. Did I get to meet all ten? No, but I did meet enough to get me interested that's for sure. I also took workshops that had a visual design element - abstracts and multiple exposures are favourites. I am finding that my photography interests are quite eclectic and then realized that I seemed happiest when a horse was in front of my camera so I have recently focused (yup, I wrote that) on equine photography. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and feel that my camera has opened my life to so many amazing experiences and people. As I get older, I find I am more intentional with my photos and like to wait for the moments that are different and unusual. I have a vast library of images that I can work on when I stop travelling so there has been a method to the madness of travelling so much - and collecting so many images - lol. Photography was an important part of my life, particularly in my twenties, and I am very happy that I am once again behind a camera. Retirement is the best time ever!
