Bio

Jan-Tore Oevrevik, also known as JT, was born in Norway and holds a comprehensive 4-year higher education degree in marketing, business, and leadership from Oslo Business School, complemented by an additional 2-year education in web development and pedagogy for adults. Between 1993 and 2004, he amassed a diverse professional experience, contributing his skills in data analysis, training, programming, design, photo editing, and consulting to renowned Norwegian companies including Borregaard, DnB, and Posten. Since 2004, JT's focus shifted to meaningful forestry initiatives in Kenya and Uganda. His involvement aimed to curtail carbon footprints through sustainable practices like dryland afforestation, soil and water conservation, micro-credit services, and income-generating activities. In 2013, JT relocated to Florida. While continuing to support afforestation projects in Kenya, he also embraced his passion for photography. Florida's natural landscape became an ideal backdrop for his bird photography pursuits, with a collection of his bird photos available on his Instagram account @jto_photography. He has actively participated in global photography workshops over the years, drawing inspiration from fellow photographers and fostering connections within the photography community. His dedication to the craft led him to excel in landscape and cityscape photography at Serge's Institute of Photography, earning him recognition as one of the top students. He was further honored with the Best Artist Fall 2022 award from Photoserge Academy. JT's photographic prowess has garnered accolades from Shoot The Frame, NOIR, UCP, and reFocus, among others. His work has been exhibited in esteemed venues like Valid World Hall Gallery in Barcelona, Matca Space for Photography in Hanoi, Galerie Gora in Montreal, and Art Market Budapest in Hungary, to name a few. His photography has also been showcased at the ALMANAQUE fotográfica in Mexico City, Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago, and the Glasgow Gallery of Photography, among various other locations internationally. Notably, his work has been featured in renowned publications like Dodho, with an annual readership of 1.8 million, as well as Digital Photographer Magazine, which boasts over 23,000 monthly readers. Additional features include NOIR International Photo Magazine, UCP Magazine, and Digital Camera World. Beyond his involvement in carbon offset projects, JT now combines his global travels with his passion for photography. Capturing the magnificence of remarkable places, he endeavors to share the wonders he encounters with the world.
