Hal Gage. b 1959 in Anchorage, Alaska. American photography based artist. Gage attended the University of Alaska Anchorage from 1976 to 1979 where he studied painting and photography. For a few years after university he made a living as a musician in California and Alaska. He has worked in the photographic industry since 1981. Since 1988 he has been in business as a commercial photographer and graphic designer. Hal Gage has exhibited his fine art work extensively in Alaska, the contiguous US, England, the EU, Russia and the far East. His images are in such collections as: Houston Museum of Art, Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center; Alaska State Museum; and the University of Alaska Museum of the North where his work is on permanent display. Among other distinctions, Gage has been twice honored with a highly competitive Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Fellowship, and received a first place award from the Sony World Photography Awards in London, England
