Bio
Emme Divi, Marcella Dalla Valle's stage name, is a movement photographer and her works are characterised by a conceptual and abstract approach to human beings and the landscapes around them. She was born in 1971 in Thiene in the province of Vicenza. She graduated in Modern Literature at the State University of Milan. The university period is very important and formative not only for learning literary subjects but also because it consolidates her passion for poetry (her degree thesis won the 19th edition of the "Nuove Lettere" International Prize for Poetry and Literature and her works are published in collective volumes and anthologies). The world of poetry will be the keynote for the start of her photographic activity that will lead her, as a self-taught photographer, to consolidate the technical preparation to tackle her first exhibitions and contests at national and international level. She was inspired by important photographers (J. Uelsmann, F. Woodman), but her approach, unlike other photographers who experimented with movementist photography is literary, linked to the word. The aim of his work, similarly to poets, is not to photograph the real in order to maintain fidelity to the visual datum, but the conscious attempt to transfigure the image in order to guess bit by bit. He won a Gold and Silver award at the Prix de la Photographie de Paris 2023 for his work New Wave 01 in the Portrait and Fine Art category, he won Silver and Bronze for his series The Absence is at the re-Focus Awards 2023, NY in the Fine Art and Conceptual category, Short List at BBA PP Berlin. His works have been exhibited in Rome, Milan, Venice, Padua, Lecce, Barcelona, Glasgow, Paris, Berlin and Tokyo.
