Bio
Dennis Moncla is an award-winning photographer based in Beaumont, Texas, whose work explores wildlife, landscapes, and fleeting moments in the natural world. Although birds frequently appear in his photographs, they are not simply his subjects. They become a medium through which he examines light, atmosphere, shape, movement, and the relationship between an animal and its environment. Moncla’s photographs are guided by a desire to show others the world as he sees it—where a shift in light, a passing gesture, or a moment emerging from mist can transform the familiar into something extraordinary. His work ranges from intimate wildlife portraits to atmospheric landscapes, united by an emphasis on mood, form, and visual storytelling. Moncla’s work has received multiple honors in international color and monochrome photography competitions. It has also been exhibited at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, where his solo exhibition, Freeze Frame, was presented as part of Houston’s FotoFest Biennial, and is held in institutional and private collections throughout the region.
