Daniel Bellman is an analog photographer based in New York City. Discovering a fascination for cameras and film at an early age, he started taking pictures in his spare time, mainly on the street. Over years of indulging a habit of taking his camera out for a walk with no apparent reason other than engaging in a search for chance events — which he likens to the practice of searching water with a dowsing rod —, a coherent body of work has spontaneously taken shape, much like foliage sprouting from a tree. He strives to let it grow with the intent of evoking the possibility that under the mundane, casual surface of reality there lies a subtle transcendental layer infusing meaning into our existence — a crucial aspect of life that tends to be neglected in an era permeated by a distracted and disenchanted attitude.
