Bio
Born in Switzerland, Cornelia Hediger has been living and working in New York City for the past two decades. She was awarded both her BFA and MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where she studied under Martha Rosler and Dawoud Bey and trained as a visual and conceptual artist. With a background in painting, Hediger transitioned her art practice into photo-based-media work, ranging from traditional black and white film photography, to color images, handmade photomontages to more complex photomontages through compositing. Hediger’s work has been exhibited in both solo and/or group exhibitions at Pentimenti Gallery, Philidelphia; The Billboard Creative 2020, Los Angeles; Galleria Matria, Milan, Italy; Lago Film Fest, Italy; Kunstraum Sylt, Germany; DEAR Photography, Hamburg, Germany; Galerie Kunstagenten, Berlin, Germany; Mart Photography Center, Yekaterinburg, Russia; Akron Art Museum, Ohio; Wallspace Gallery, Seattle; The Center for Photography at Woodstock; Wall Space Gallery, Seattle; PS122 Gellery, NYC; Lishui International Photography Festival, China; Schneider Gallery, Chicago; Klompching Gallery, Brooklyn. Her work has been reviewed and featured in a number of publications including GLAMOUR Magazine, PHOTONEWS, GEOkompakt, SHOTS Magazine, BLINK, The Wall Street Journal, ARTE, Photo Technique, PHOTO+, HotShoe, SNOCKS, Visura Magazine, New York Magazine, Vision Magazine, Float Photo Magazine, Cornelia Hediger’s work can be found in several private collections in the US, Japan, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and the United Kingdom.
