Bio
Asaf Einy is an Artist based in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Working in the photography and video medium, His work examines local masculinity and the male portrait as an intersection between a documentary gaze and conceptual photography. Einy is occupied with the tension between what is ‘foreign’ and what is ‘familiar’ and the ability of photography to create those tensions and expose them to the max. Einy has a BFA in fine Arts. He graduated in 2016 from the department of Fine Arts at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. His final exhibition, a video installation, won the Eliane Cooper prize. In 2018 he participated in a group exhibition in Tel-Aviv museum of Art showcasing a video work. The exhibition was called “Looper” and it was curated by Doron Rabina & Dalit Matatyahou. That year, he also participated in a photography group exhibition at Inga Gallery, called “Precious Light” curated by Etty Schwartz. In 2019 he published his first photography book “10pm Sunset”- documenting the Sicilian beach culture. In the same year, he displayed his work in Fresh Paint fair along side other young emerging Artists, curated by Raz Shapira. Also, he took part in a photography group exhibition at P8 Gallery, Called “From Non to Most” curated by Etty Schwartz. In 2021-2022, he exhibited his work in two solo exhibitions. the first, "Thicket" curated by Evgeny Komuhin at space place- an art galley in Nizhniy Tagil, Russia. The second one "Bruises", curated by Meital Aviram, was exhibited at Indie gallery, Tel-Aviv. Currently, he is working on his second photography book coming out on December 2023.
